A separation agreement is known as a marital separation agreement, property settlement agreement, pendente lite order, or just MSA for short. Its primary function is to define the terms of legal separation for both parties. The main guidelines include child support, child visitation, alimony, and child custody.
It is very important to take your time and make out a thorough separation agreement. As most divorce attorneys will tell you, the more decisions that are made out of court the better off you and your spouse will be.
