Divorce Waiting Period in Texas
- February 2nd, 2008 - Posted under Divorce Process by StraightDivorce Staff
Similar to every state, Texas has a required waiting period before the divorce can be finalized. Although this can be an agonizing period in your life, the waiting period is in place to ensure that you and your spouse are doing the correct thing.
In Texas, after filing for divorce, you must wait for at least 60 days for the court to finalize the divorce. The exact time that the 60 day divorce waiting period is started is when the divorce petition is filed in court. To be specific, the day the divorce petition is filed is considered day 0, and the divorce is finalized on day 60.
